About the Artist

Hello, I'm Batialite- or, rather, Riley. I'm an artist of many mediums- these days it's mainly digital, but I also work on traditional pieces. I use watercolors, markers, multi-media approaches, and simple pecnil and pen. I am also somewhat experienced with a dip pen.

I'm mainly a character artist. I love designing, drawing and making characters. I enjoy dynamic poses and costumes, interesting lighting, and I'm beginning to branch into different shot compostions.
I have experience designing a variety of characters. I specialize in fantasy or medieval/renassaince settings, but I can easily design for sci-fi, modern, and historical. I'm also epxerienced (and always learning) in drawing many different body types. I'm still learning about designing and drawing armor and only consider myself an amateur in that respect. I'm always growing, learning and pushing with my art, and trying new things.
I can also draw enviroments, although I am less experienced. My main examples of this work is seen in the backgrounds of my various artworks. I also have some un-developed sketches in my personal folder, that I'm willing to show over e-mail or DMs. I'm currently working on developing my enviromental skills.

I'm mainly a hobbyist artist. I do take commissions, and have taken them in the past, but I haven't had the pleasure of working for a project yet. I have been drawing, studying and designing seriously for 5 years. I have been drawing, in general, for almost 15. Those 15 years weren't all done in the same manner as my past 5 years. Those 5 years have been done with references, learning materials, and studying.

My main inspirations come from things like DND and other table top roleplaying games, various manga and anime, various comic books and graphic novels, video game art direction and tons of independent artists across the web. I love to have a wide array of inspirations, not only to spark my creavitity, but to do style studies on and to learn from.

Slightly related- I am rather knowledgable on various fashion periods in history. I take a particular interest in the 14-1600s, various fashions from the Victorian era, and early Edwardian era. This has provided me with a lot of historical insight for my character designs.
